Laura Sloman has been playing in WSC since 2015. She captains Blackout, whom she recently led to back-to-back Intermediate League Championships. A thoughtful and sincere captain, she has instated "player of the week" awards, where the team decides which of its members is worthy of a prize (a small rubber ducky). On the pitch, she is a natural defender, but IRL you can find her counseling 3rd-5th graders at a private school in Edgewater.
She is former youth travel team player, having grown up in the Philadelphia area, and calls herself a huge Eagles fan. In the Prem, Laura supports Chelsea Football Club and cites Eden Hazard as her favorite men's player. The best game she ever played involved scoring a left-footed goal in a coed final, while playing out of position, as a midfielder. She gets her game face on with pre-game playlist that includes tracks by Chance the Rapper (No Problem), Rage Against the Machine (Bulls on Parade) and the Dropkick Murphys (Shipping up To Boston).
