Volleyball RULES

General Rules

FIVB Rules apply including but not limited to:

THE REFEREE’S DECISION IS ALWAYS FINAL
Maximum of 3 hits per side
Points are made on every serve for the winning team of the rally (rally-point scoring)
A block is not considered a hit
Must have at least 5 players (6v6) to play without forfeiting
Kneepads are recommended
Players may not hit the ball twice in succession

After a serve, frontline players may switch positions at the net
Players may participate in both league divisions unless otherwise stated by WSC organizers. Recent (case by case) top level college, semi-pro, and professional players may not play in the Intermediate division.
Matches are best of three. Scoring is to 25 points. Tiebreaker match played to 15 points.
Ranking points are awarded as follows:
- 3-0 WIN = 3 points for winner and 0 points for the loser
- 2-1 WIN = 2 points for winner and 1 point for the loser
- Forfeit = 3 points for winner and 0 points for the loser, full game points awarded to win [i.e. 25-0, 25-0, 15-0]
- Score differential will be considered to settle ranking ties
If a team WINs their division three times in a row, they are required to move up to the next highest division, if possible.

Rule Violations

Stepping over the service line
Touching the net with any part of the body while the ball is in play
Ball handling errors or touching the ball illegally (double touching, lifting, carrying, etc}
Reaching over the net to contact the ball before the opponent has completed three hits
Serving out of rotation order
Back row player blocking at the net
Back row attacking in the front zone
